The leaves were out in all their reds, golds, oranges and greens as the Fall meeting took place at the famed Mall of America, the biggest mall in the USA. Our packed agenda balanced topics on sales, communications, operations, and advertising with camaraderie, learning, sharing, and problem-solving for our members. Trudy Kremer of Jackson Spalding reflects, “IAN is utterly unique. At the Fall 2017 Minneapolis meeting, we had access to some of the best and brightest independent advertising agency minds in a non-competitive atmosphere. The varied content was tangible, inspirational and applicable to our agency.”
Ted Risdall, of host marketing agency Risdall, set a schedule themed around success. Topics ranged from the Mall of America’s continued growth to discussions with successful businesspeople and authors, an iconic legend in advertising, and the head of the pitch team to bring national sports events like the Super Bowl and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game to Minnesota.

As director of sales, Matt Meunier serves on the Meet Minneapolis Leadership Team and successfully promoted and sold the city of Minneapolis as a premier destination for the Super Bowl LII and the 2019 NCAA final four.

This session offered a vibrant look at a mall that is thriving amidst a nationwide trend of downturn in mall foot traffic. This national venue – with shopping, restaurants, an amusement park, and entertainment – keeps growing through continuous engagement with its customers, being on top of crisis situations, and keeping a safe environment for its visitors.
